I’m a philosopher specializing in the philosophy of mind. I am a full professor of theoretical philosophy at the University of Turku, Finland. I am also affiliated with
Mind and Matter profiling action at the University of Helsinki, Finland.
I am particularly interested in the empirically informed philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology. My particular interests lie in subjective time, and theories of consciousness and time-consciousness. I am the principal investigator in Temporality in Predictive Processing, a research project funded by the Academy of Finland. I often collaborate with colleagues from other fields. In addition to my current research project on subjective time, I have an ongoing project together with Jarno Tuominen and Susanne Uusitalo on problem gambling and predictive processing. I am a past member of Intercontinental Academia on Time, a collaborative project by University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS).
I enjoy giving popular presentations and have done so, for example, at the A night of philosophy -event and Studia Generalia series. I’ve also given several interviews, for example, for the BBC Focus, National Geographic, Reuters, Finnish public radio, and several Finnish newspapers. I also enjoy running.
